Sensor Web 3.0

The Kennedy Space Center sits on a large wildlife refuge. In particular, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, the Canaveral National Seashore, EPA National Estuarine Program, and Florida Aquatic Reserve contain more threatened and endangered species than any other park or refuge system within the United States. As a result, a great deal of attention is being paid to monitoring the ecosystems associated with the refuge; this makes the refuge an ideal place for Sensor Web technology.

We have partnered with the aquatic research team at the Kennedy Space Center to deploy a Sensor Web in the lagoons surrounding the shuttle launch pads. This deployment is within 1/4 mile of an active launch site.
